Joss Whedon (born Joseph Hill Whedon on June 23, 1964 in New York) is an American writer, director, executive producer, and creator of the well-known television series' Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, and Firefly. He has also written several film scripts and several comic book series. After finishing at Winchester College in England, he went on to to receive a film degree from Wesleyan University in 1987.

Whedon's Dark Horse works include Fray, the two Firefly tie-ins Serenity:Those Left Behind & Serenity:Better Days, as well as the very popular continuation of Buffy:The Vampire Slayer in Season Eight.

Whedon is also the writer of the popular and recreated Astonishing X-Men line of comics for issues 1-25. He is also set to become the new writer of Marvel comic Runaways when series creator Brian K. Vaughan has completed his run.
